2008 Models
To date the "2008 Models" do not have any significant mechanical differences to allow a classification into different categories.
However, some differences in the inscription on the blade currently allow us to distinguish three variants.
Since 1921 all soldiers’ knives have had a vintage marking on the main blade, the last two digits of the year (e.g. 08 for 2008).
The “2008 Models” not only contain the four main tools present since the “1961 Models” :
- A large blade.
- A screwdriver / bottle opener / electric cable stripper.
- A can opener.
- An awl / reamer.
But there are two new tools :
- A Philips screwdriver.
- A wood saw.
Furthermore, the shape and / or size of the old tools have changed when compared to the ultimate variant of the “1961 Models” :
- The large blade is longer and wider, it is serrated for 60% of its length, it has a hole and is not closed by a spring to facilitate the opening with one hand and finally it can be locked in the open position.
- The screwdriver / bottle opener / electric cable stripper retains its initial shape but it is larger and can be locked in the open position.
- The can opener retains its initial shape but is also larger.
- The awl / reamer, whilst retaining its initial length has changed shape.
Finally the handle is made of green-khaki and black anti-slip “bi-material”.
